More things...

So much happened in the last couple of weeks I couldn't get to all of it in the last posting. So here we go...

1. Our bathrooms flooded again. Pooh! This time, we had already gone through this before and knew what to do and who to call. They were here the next morning and it was fixed! Disgusting to clean up. Hooray for first time home owners! We are starting to get the hang of things. Of course, something else will happen tomorrow that we have no idea how to fix or handle but that's ok. It's an adventure.

2. Atticus had surgery. He has been vomiting so much lately but wasn't acting sick at all. We have had bloodwork done, exams, and finally an X-ray. The vet said (and showed Rick) that he thought he saw a round object in his stomach and that we needed to do surgery. Dang! I didn't want that for Atticus or our pocketbook but we had to do it. Turns out, there is no ball only inflammation! The surgery was a bust but the bright side is, we got some medicine for him and he has only vomited once in the last week. Poor buddy...He got his staples out today and is raring to go play, of course. He's a wild man.

3. Fiona got the stomach bug that is going around. I suspect she got it from the doctor's office since she went in the get her flu shot in the afternoon and the next morning she was sick. The good thing is, she was surprisingly happy and resilient. Her case was mild but even so, I was a nervous mommy. Dehydration can set in and get serious really fast and so I had eagle eyes that day to make sure she was ok. I took her to the doctor just in case. She did great and got over it quickly.

4. Rick and I thought we had dodged it. Lysol had covered our house and we were feeling good. The following night, I came down with it. Rick was at work and wouldn't be home for a couple of hours. Mine got so bad I had to spend the night in the ER. Our friend from church, Mary, was a God send. By some miracle she was up at 11:00PM that night, which she doesn't normally do, when we called her and came right over to sit with Fiona. What would we do without Meemoo (that's what her grandkids and some kids at church call her)? She is like Fiona's resident grandmother and we are super thankful for her. She spent the night at our house while Fiona slept. Poor Rick stayed up all night with me at the hospital and took care of me. We got home at 6:30AM the next day. Fiona was just waking up. I went to the bed and Rick stayed up with Fiona.

5. By God's divine plan and Sovereignty, Rick's mom was already scheduled to fly in that day. She got there just 5 hours after we arrived home from the hospital. She helped out a lot around the house, especially with Fiona. I was able to recover and Rick was able to get some sleep. We thanked God for his provision a lot that week. Thank goodness, Rick never got it. He's got a immune system of steel. He never gets sick, which I am thankful for. What would we do if we all had it?!

6. Rick's family loves Christmas so Rick's mom set up our Christmas tree while she was here. While I am not a Scrooge, and enjoy Christmas myself, I have never enjoyed decorating for Christmas. I hate it actually, so it was pretty nice having someone else set it up for me. hahaha. I definitely needed the tree up this year since it's Fiona's first Christmas. I haven't decorated in years. For various reasons: Christmas season is very busy for us because of Rick's job, we are never actually home for Christmas, and I really don't like doing it. :)

I also ordered and received a stocking for Fiona with her name embroidered on it. So sweet! I love seeing all three stockings hanging up there together. Since we don't have a fireplace or mantle (why would we, it's 85 degrees outside!), our stockings are hanging on our music key hooks in the dining room. hahaha. When you have a small house, you improvise. :) We'll have to post a picture of the tree and stockings soon.

But first, Happy Thanksgiving from Rick, Stacy, and Fiona. We will be thinking about and praising God for all the many blessings He has so graciously given us the year, especially our little girl. We hope you are able to do the same.

I loved seeing Foster's stocking last year too! It is so sweet to see their little name on things. That is awesome that Rick's Mom decorated for you.... So sweet! Go her!!
(Sorry, I can't remember her name... HA!)
