12 weeks

As most of you have already been informed, we are going to have a baby. I had my 12 week appointment yesterday and everything is going well. I have to go to another office on Monday to do a standard test including another ultrasound and blood test. They don't have someone on staff at my doctor's office that can do it. Rats!

The morning sickness up until this point has been rough but it seems to be getting a little bit better. The doctor said I have actually lost a little weight since my 8 week appointment. Even so, I still am not able to wear my regular pants anymore. Hello to maternity wear. No zippers or buttons, just comfy elastic! Sounds pretty good. I have started registering which is really fun. We can get more specific on what we need especially with clothes when we find out what we're having. I can't wait to pick out clothes.

Rick and I went to my boss's son's 11th birthday party this weekend. He was adopted from Colombia about a year ago. He is the cutest little boy. He loves to look good and he fixes his hair every morning into a faux-hawk. He loves to be dressed well too. He is very proper and has to look good to go out in public. This is the general attitude and philosophy of the Colombian culture. When he first came to the U.S. I got him an outfit as a gift. He wore the shorts I got him almost every day for months. My boss, Nidia, said she had to wash them daily! hahaha. Well, for this birthday, I went to Old Navy and picked out another outfit for him. He loves to skateboard so I got a skate shirt and more shorts. Most 11 year old boys wouldn't want that gift but as I said, Victor loves clothes. He and his family sat in the pew in front of me the next day at church. They were pointing at Victor and smiling because he was wearing his outfit I gave him! His mother said he loved it and had to wear it that day. She told him that I was pregnant and he said, "I hope it's a boy. She will know how to dress him. She has good taste." So cute!

Well, we don't know what we're having yet. We will find out in about 5-6 weeks. We can't wait. We are starting to look through names and hash out what we can agree on. Rick likes the normal, standard names and I like the more funky, different names. What shall we do? We'll figure something out...

I'm so excited for you guys! Week 13 was always a turning point for me as far as the yuckies go. Hopefully for you too! And...naming a kid is probably one of the hardest things I have ever done. Now, twice! Well, that is, besides L&D but that is in a different category altogether. ;)
